Ar-Rahmaan
الرَّحْمنُ
(The All-Merciful)
الرَّحِيمُ
Ar-Raheem
(The Most-Merciful)
البَرُّ
Al-Barr (The Generous)
الكَرِيمُ
Al-Kareem (The Kind)
الجَوَّادُ
Al-Jawwad
(The Bestower of Good)
الرَّؤُوفُ
Ar-Ra’oof (The Kind)
الوَهَّابّ
Al-Wahhaab (The Bestower)
All of these Names are close in meaning and all of them point to describing the Lord with mercy, generosity and kindness. They point to the great expanse of His mercy and gifts that encompass all that is existence, being granted in accordance to the dictates of His wisdom. The believers have been specifically singled out for this and they are granted a goodly and the best portion of this as Allaah said:
My mercy encompasses all things and I shall decree it for those who have taqwaa.
[Al-A’raf (7): 156]
All blessings and the various aspects of beneficence are from the effects of His mercy, generosity and kindness just as all beneficence in this world and in the Hereafter is from the effects of His mercy:
Ar-Rahmaan. He taught the Qur’aan and created mankind.
[Ar-Rahmaan (55): 1-3]
Verily, we used to call on Him [Alone] before. Verily He is Al-Barr,
Ar-Raheem.
[At-Toor (52): 28]
O man! What has made you careless concerning your Lord, Al-Kareem.
[Al-Infitaar (82): 6]
And had it not been for the grace of Allaah and His Mercy on you, [Allaah would have hastened the Punishment]. And that Allaah is Ra’oof, Raheem.
[An-Noor (24): 20]
[They say]: Our Lord, let not our hearts deviate after You have guided us and grant us Mercy from You. Truly you are Al-Wahhaab.

Al-Hakeem (The All-Wise)
الحَكِيمُ
Al-Hakeem (The All-Wise)
He is the one to whom belongs the highest wisdom, the one who is All-Wise in His creating and ordering, the one who made well everything that He created.
And who is better than Allaah in judgement for a people who have firm faith?
[Al-Maa’idah (5):50]
Therefore, He has created nothing out of mere frivolity and He has legislated nothing that is in vain and of no use.
He is the one to whom belongs judgement in the beginning and the end. He has three areas of ruling that nothing else has a share in: He rules over His servants with respect to His law, His decree and His recompense.
Wisdom is to put something in its correct place.
For those who believe not in the Hereafter is an evil description and for Allaah is the highest description. He is the Almighty, al-Hakeem.
[An-Nahl (16): 60]
It is He who is the only deity in the heaven and on the earth. He is al-Hakeem, the All-Knowing.

العَلِيمُ
Al-‘Aleem (The All-Knowing)
الخَبيرُ
Al-Khabeer (The All-Aware)
He is the one whose knowledge encompasses all the outward and hidden matters, the open and secret, all those things that must necessarily occur, all those things that are impossible to occur and all those thingsthat can possibly occur. He knows the affairs of the whole of creation, of the past, the present and the future. There is absolutely nothing that is hidden from Him.
Verily Allaah alone has the knowledge of the Hour,He sends down the rain and knows what is in the wombs. No soul knows what it will earn tomorrow and no soul knows in what land it will die. Indeed Allaah is ‘Aleem, Khabeer.
[Luqmaan (31):34]
O Mankind! We have created you from a male and female and made you into nations and tribes that you may know each other. Verily, the most noble of you in the sight of Allaah is the most pious and God-Fearing of you. Indeed Allaah is ‘Aleem, Khabeer.

Al-Malik (The King) Al-Maalik (The Master and Owner)
المَلِكُ
Al-Malik (The King)
المَالِكُ
Al-Maalik (The Master and Owner)
He is decribed with the Attribute of being the Master and Owner. These are the Attributes describing His grandeur, glory and majesty, omnipotence and His governance and regulation of the affairs. He is the one who directs all of the affairs to do with creation, command and recompense. To Him belongs the whole of creation, all of it is subservient to Him, owned by Him and in continuous need of Him.
Then High exalted be Allaah, al-Malik, the Truth. Do not be in haste with the Qur’aan before its revelation is completed to you and say, ‘My Lord! Increase me in knowledge.’
[Ta Ha (20):114]
Say: O Allaah! Maalik of the kingdom, You give sovereigntyto whom You will and You take sovereignty from whom You will. You exalt whom You will and You humiliate whom You will. In your Hand is all good, indeed You have power over all things.

Allaah
الله
Allaah
He is the one and only deity, the one who is worshipped and the one who deserves to be worshipped by the whole of His creation. This is due to the perfect and beautiful godly Attributes that He is described with.
Allaah! There is none worthy of worship but He, the Living, the Self-Sustaining. He is not subject to drowsiness. To Him belongs whatsoever is in the heavens and the earth. Who is there that can intercede with Him except with His permission? He Knows what is before them and what is behind them, but they cannot encompass anything of His Knowledge except that which He Wills. His Footstool encompasses the heavens and the earth and He feels no fatigue in preserving them. He is the Most High, the Most Great.

Ar-Rabb- The Lord and Cherisher
الرَّبُّ
Ar-Rabb (The Lord and Cherisher)
This name has been repeatedly mentioned in many verses.
Ar-Rabb is the one who nurtures and sustains all of His servants through regulating and governing their affairs and granting them all types of favours and blessings. More specifically, He is the one who nurtures and sustains his sincere friends by correcting and purifying their hearts, souls and manners. This is why their supplications are frequently made with this noble Name because they seek this specific nurturing.
And your Rabb is the Ever-Forgiving, Owner of Mercy. Were He to call them to account for what they had earned, surely He would have hastened on their punishment. Instead they have their appointed time beyond which they will find no escape.

Science Project: Moon Phases
We have been studying the Moon in depth now for a few weeks and my children are doing a project where they have to draw the Moon every day for 28 days so they can see it changing day by day. Here are some excellent websites that are useful concerning the Moon changing. The first link show the current phase of the Moon and also you can search any year of any month to see what the Moon looks like. It's just a brilliant site.

Is it permissible for Muslims to put their children in the schools of the non-Muslims?
QUESTION
Is it permissible for Muslims to put their children in the schools of the non-Muslims, knowing the many contradictions to the the Islaamic Sharee'ah that are found in their schools and the effects they have on our children? Specifically for:
(a) those who have a proper Islaamic school in their city, but it is expensive
(b) those who do not have a proper Islaamic school in their city, rather there are "Islaamic" schools run by people of innovation
(c) those who do not have any kind of Islaamic school whatsoever in their city
ANSWER by Shaykh Muhammad 'Umar Baazmool, instructor at Umm Al-Quraa University in Makkah
What is apparent to me, and Allaah knows best, is that it is not permissible under any circumstances for the Muslims to put their children in the schools of the non-Muslims. This is not permissible, expecially when these schools teach things that are foreign to the Deen, like the beliefs of the Christians or the Jews, or other impermissible things.
This is the case whether there is an Islaamic school in the city or not. No doubt, when one puts his children in the non-Muslims' school while there is an Islaamic school in the city, this is even more severely prohibited than the one who does so and does not have an Islaamic school in his city.
[ This was the end of the shaykh's answer on the cassette. When asked over the telephone about the issue of Muslims putting their children in the schools of the people of bid'ah, the shaykh requested that the following be added to his answer: ]
And it is not permissible for the Muslims to put their children into schools where innovation is being taught, or things that are in contradiction to the Sunnah. The scholars are preventing students of knowledge from reading the books of the innovators, so how can it be permissible for little children to study in schools where innovations are taught?! Especially when they are not able to distinguish between Sunnah andbid'ah, their hearts may become attached to innovations, and Allaah's Refuge is sought. So it is not permissible to put children in schools where innovation is taught.
