Teaching Children Tawheed

This is a wonderful book for any parent to have in their library. 

Ibn 'Abbaas (radhi Allaahu anhu) said regarding the saying of Allaah Subhanahu wa ta'ala:  "And those who say: "Our Lord! Bestow on us from our wives and our offspring who will be the comfort of our eyes, and make us leaders and guides for the pious."

[Al-Furqaan (25):74]

"They mean: who will act in obedience towards You, so by them our eyes will become comforted in the dunyaa (the life of this world) and the Aakhirah (the Hereafter)."

(Tafseer at-Tabaree)

Abdullaah bin 'Umar (radhi Allaahu anhu) narrated that the Messenger of Allaah (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) said:  "Each one of you is a raa'ee (guardian), and each one of you is responsible for those under his charge. So the Imaam (Ruler) is a guardian and he is responsible for those under his care; a man is a guardian over his family and he is responsible for them; and a wife is a guardian over her husband's house and she is responsible (for it); a slave is a guardian for his master's wealth and property and he is responsible (for that). Beware! All of you are guardians and are responsible for those under his charge."

An-Nawawee said: "The scholars have said that the raa'ee is the guardian, the one who is entrusted, the one committed to the goodness and well-being of what he is responsible for, and what is under his supervison.  So in it (this hadeeth) is that everyone who has something under his care and supervision, then it demands justice in it, and establishing what is beneficial to him in his Deen and his Dunyaa and those things related to him."

Educating Muslims

The other Islamic curriculum we use is  'Educating Muslims' .  Very well organised and simply laid out in a colourful way to attract children's attention. Please go to their website to take a look in the pages and see for yourself. My children love these books. (If anyone has purchased the teachers manuals I would be interested to know if it is worth buying this as well).

Just want to add that my photocopier is very well used, because if you have more than one child it can be very expensive to buy individual books for each child, so I just photocopy the pages and put them into their own folders.

Eemaan made easy series

I just thought I'd put some of the books that we use for our Islamic studies. It is the Eemaan made easy series by Muhammad al-Jibaly even though it is not advisable to take knowledge from this author in other works, this series does have the stamp mark of approval from the Salafi book store (Spubs) as shown in one of the pics. We also follow another curriculum for our Islamic studies and I will post them soon insha'Allaah.

Home Schooling...I'm Loving it

Just want to say that home schooling is going great so far alhamdulillaah! I feel that a whole new world of exploring and learning has just opened up for me as well as my children. It's been a few weeks now and I think what works really good for us is that we keep a list of the subjects or lessons on our whiteboard that we have to do each day and when each lesson is completed, A and J tick it off, this really helps us to be organized.

What I love most about home education is that we can all learn and have more time for the things that really matter to us as Muslims like: reading the Qur'aan every day (this is our number one priority), studying Arabic (we are using Rosetta Stone, and again do this every day), Arabic writing practise, Islamic studies (we can do this so much more than before) and really everything seems a lot calmer and so much more nourishing. Alhamdulillaah! I teach the other subjects too like Engish, Maths, Science, ICT and I am planning to do some Geography and History too inshaa'Allaah with an Islamic theme.

I have enrolled my children on The Maths Factor for them to study their timetables, at a one off price of £19.99 each and they can work at their own pace (there's no time limit) they have been doing it daily for a few weeks now and I see them gaining a love for maths now alhamdulillaah.

At the moment we have a free trial for a website that's really nice and is what they use in my children's (ex) school it's called 'Education City' so check it out, it teaches, English, Math, Science, French, Spanish, German and ICT. The free trial is for 10 days and after that you can choose whether to subscribe. Ramadaan 1431 Lapbooks

I'm a little late in posting these but I think they are very nice indeed mashaa'Allaah, well done my kids for this lovely work. A lot of the printouts was taken from Sister Umm Abdul Basir's site and Sister Umm Hassan's site and also from Sister Umm Ibrahim's site Barak Allaahu feekum Dear Sisters for all the valuable work you do for not just for your own familes but for many many other sisters and their children.

Ramadhaan Freeze

What a busy Ramadhaan we had, what with making a 'Good deed stars' freeze taken from Sister Umm Abdul-Basir's site and also in making our very first lapbook about Ramadhaan again most printouts were taken from Sister Umm Abdul-Basir site. Jazaki Allaahu khair Dear Sister for your wonderful work aswell as the other sister's site's Barak Allaahu feekum.

Anyway sadly Ramadhaan has left us and we will have to take it down really soon, even though my kids are protesting. Here's some pictures of their work:

Our background, we used lining paper and taped them together. Kids really enjoyed painting.

It was A's job to make the masjid.

And J's job to make the Sun and Moon and she even got her non-Muslim friend who is a neighbour of ours to help make the trees and flowers.

I found an old painting what J had made a while ago of a sweet shop and decided to put that on and we also made a pond with some water lillies.

The finishing result with all their rightly earned stars masha'Allaah.
